We're exactly two weeks away from St. Patrick's Day, but here I am posting about Valentine's Day decor. Yup, it's pretty much the way I run this show. I have multiple projects that I'm currently working on and so I do things as I feel the desire.
I actually had these banners completed a few days before Valentine's Day, so I call that a win. I just didn't post about it. Part of that is just that I've been so busy, but the other part was that the main banner just didn't come out completely the way I had wanted it to and I was annoyed that it hung in a weird way.
I had thought about drilling another hole in the hearts thinking they wouldn't lay flat, but I thought I had found a work-around. I didn't. That being said, I'm not COMPLETELY upset with it. It's still a fun banner and the most important thing is that I had fun creating it.

I was moving posts from the old blog to this one when I ran across the post about the bunny banner I did a couple of years ago. I thought it would be fun to have one for Valentine's Day, so I figured out how to make it happen.
I'm awful at figuring out the sizes of things when I buy online, so I thought I was getting slightly larger and deeper hearts than I got. However, I wasn't too upset with the size they actually were and I just decided I'd glue two hearts together to give them some depth. I made sure the hearts on the back were also painted as they'd be visible through the arch where I'd be placing the banner.

Of course, the biggest draw to me will always be the newsprint. I was able to find a newsprint with a Valentine-y kind of feel and so I worked with that. After printing it off, I did the paint splatter in the same red, pink and white that I painted the hearts. I used my silhouette to cut out the heart shapes after the paint had dried and then randomly placed them on the hearts.
And because beads seem to be all the rage these days, I made sure to order some pre-painted beads to add to it. It really helped bring the banner together.

I had some extra hearts left over, so I decided I'd make a conversation heart type banner using the family's names. Years ago I made actual conversation heart decor, so I didn't need to redo that.

SUPPLY LIST
NEWSPRINT: Newsprint 03 by Snickerdoodle Designs (Karen Schulz) PAINT: Apple Barrel COLORS: Bright Red, Pink Parfait, White (Main Banner) Pool Blue, Lilac Mist, Apricot, Pink Eraser, Pewter Grey, Parakeet, Blue Cotton and Yellow Flame (Family Banner)
VINYL: Scraps that I had, but I'm pretty sure they came from Expressions Vinyl
I had so much fun with this project that I'm currently working on (waiting for paint to dry) one for St. Patty's Day. St. Patrick's Day is one of those holidays that I really enjoy, even though I don't have a real concrete reason for enjoying it.
