Confession time!

I've never actually seen the true Nutcracker ballet. I've never read the story. I've never had a real interest in it at all. Which is odd because, for a short time, I was obsessed with ballet, though I'd never actually seen one or been a dancer. But then one year, my daughter's dance school did a whole recital based on The Nutcracker.

My daughter was super excited at the possibility of being part of the mouse army, but she missed class the day parts were assigned or because she was taller (it was too many years ago to remember exactly), she ended up as one of the soldiers. She was not happy about this and we had to hear about it anytime the dance was talked about. I think, in some ways, she is still bitter about it today.

When I saw the kit, A Nutcracker Christmas, I thought of this dance right away and went about making this page. I had to go search actual photo albums for the photos as this took place before digital started taking over my life. It was kind of fun to go back and look at these pictures and remember this time.
