If you ever want to know why photos and scrapbooking is such an important thing for me, this layout covers it pretty well.

North Meet South Studios collection for September was focused around the word: Wisdom, and I truly had no idea where I was going to go with it. I wasn't feeling a school/learning type of vibe that a lot of people might lean to with this kit and knew I'd have to take it a different way.

That way started with looking through all my old photos. I legitimately just started looking in some older folders to find something, anything to work with and then I had my inspiration.

My in-laws have always been amazing at helping us with our kids. Babysitting when we asked (sometimes they'd voluntarily do so) and even taking the kids for a few days here and there so that my husband and I could get-away for a few days. Usually it was because we were celebrating our anniversary.

Our soon-to-be 14-year-old wasn't quite a year old during one of these trips and my in-laws still said they'd watch the kids. We dropped the kids off and went about our weekend. A short time after we returned my mother-in-law shared some pictures that she took (I will forever be grateful that she's big on pictures too). One set of photos she took was my father-in-law holding our baby and looking through the newspaper together.

At the time I just thought they were really sweet photos and it made me glad to have a father-in-law that interacted with his grandkids. Fast forward a few short years and my father-in-law would pass away from pancreatic cancer. And now, photos like these are much more important to me and it's always a mix of emotions to scrap these kinds of pictures. It's sad because he is so missed, but it also makes me extremely happy to remember that my kids were lucky enough to have a grandpa who made sure he was involved.

And for the record, my mother-in-law will still watch kids on occasion. We don't really ask her to as we have older kids capable of doing so, but it's still important to her to have that time with them and to create new memories.
